Hurricane Relief

Jr. High students please help us "Fill the Buckets" for hurricane victims.  Check out the lists in the hall and help us any way possible - students who bring an item for the bucket can put their name in for a drawing to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25.  Item must be from the list and new: ideas include liquid laundry detergent, reusable wipes, dish soap, and many more.  We are trying to fill 5 buckets and we could really use your help!  Items can be dropped off in Mrs. Petersen's, Mrs. Hoffman's, or Mrs. Becker's room by Wednesday morning.

THIS WEEK IS RED RIBBON WEEK

We will celebrate DRUG AWARENESS with the following dress-up days:

Wednesday, October 25 – Don’t sweat it, stay away from drugs – Wear SWEATS!

Thursday, October 26 – Be on my DNH drug-free team! – Wear BLUE!

Friday, October 27 – NO SCHOOL

 

PICTURE RETAKE/MAKE-UP DAY is tomorrow morning. PK - 7th students will be called down in the morning. If there are any 8th graders needing to have picture re-takes, please stop in the library prior to 8:20, when the bus leaves to Hawkeye.

8TH TO HAWKEYE

8th Graders will travel to Hawkeye Community College on Thursday morning for STEM/Career Fair. The bus will leave at 8:20. Students will return before lunch.

 

ATHLETICS:

If any 6th grade boy is interested in playing basketball this winter and haven't been contacted yet, please let Mrs. Neuroth know ASAP. We would love to have everyone out

There will be a sign up in Mr. Connollys room for anyone who wishes to sign up for Wrestling, Cheerleading, or basketball. Winter sports will begin on Monday, November 6th.

7th BBB, 8th GBB, and Wrestling will practice AFTER SCHOOL

8th BBB and 7th GBB will practice BEFORE SCHOOL

 

JH WINTER GAME SCHEDULE

Cheerleaders please turn in all uniforms by Friday to Mrs. Eiklenborg.

There will be a pep bus Friday night for the football game at New Hampton.  The cost is $10.00. Sign up in the office.  Leaves Dike at 5:00 New Hartford at 5:15.

Menu: Quesadilla or Pizza, Glazed Carrots, Peaches, Salad Bar and Milk. 

 

BAND

Today is Day 6 Band Lessons

 

VOCAL

The vocal festival will take place today, Monday, Oct. 23 in Denver, and will last all afternoon and evening. All vocal students will be attending. Vocal students will eat lunch at 11:30 and load the buses at 12:00. Students need to wear dress clothes to the festival. The concert begins at 5:30; buses will return to NH at 8:00, and to Dike at 8:15.

All other 7th and 8th graders will eat at 12:12 on Monday (regular 7th grade lunch time).

DNH TRAPSHOOTING

 

The DNH Trapshooting Team fall informational meeting and shoot is this Sunday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Falls Gun Club. Learn how trapshooting works, watch a squad of current team members do a demonstration of shooting a round of trap, and then try shooting a round yourself with our coaches helping you out   http://dnhtrapshooting.org

Days 5 and 6  - 8th grade

VOCAL FESTIVAL

Thank you to all the 8th grade parents who baked goods for the bake sale. We raised $300.00 towards Lanesboro.

Vocal Students- please remember to fill out your meal requests by Thursday Oct. 12.  

FUNDRAISER

THERE ARE STILL SEVERAL FUNDRAISER ITEMS IN THE OFFICE THAT HAVE NOT BEEN PICKED UP YET. PLEASE MAKE SURE THOSE ITEMS ARE PICKED UP. If you have refrigerated items, those cannot go home on the bus.

TAG BEGINS Thursday. MRS. ELLINGSON WILL BE COVERING FOR MRS. NICHOLSON FOR A WHILE. MEET IN THE ELEM COMPUTER LAB DURING WOLVERINE TIME. THE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:

PTSO Fundraiser pickup is TODAY, Tuesday, October 13 from 3 - 6 pm in the New Hartford Multi-Purpose Room.

 

PE:

6th - 8th Graders please wear long sleeves for PE the next couple of weeks.

LANESBORO

Saturday we are in need of workers for the 8th grade volleyball tournament.  If you have interest please let Mrs. Becker of me know.  The tournament will run from 9:00 until approximately 1:30.

Casey’s cards and money are due to Mrs. Wrage today.

 

VOCAL:

Combined Vocal on Friday 10/6, and Wednesday 10/11. Performance during school is Friday, Oct. 13th during 7th hour.

 

PTSO FUNDRAISER:

Cherrydale Reminder: All orders will be delivered next Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 3:00 in the MPR. Stop in after school to pick up your orders and prizes!

 

 

6-8th graders bring long sleeves for PE for the next few weeks

 

 

There will be a pep bus Friday night to Story City football game.  The cost is $10.00

*** CHANGE ***  The game has been moved up to 6:00 to avoid weather.

The bus NOW leaves ONLY from Dike at 4:15.

There will still be a JH volleyball game in the afternoon.

 

LANESBORO FUNDRAISING:

 

We are in need of two students for the volleyball game concessions on Thursday, and two during the 8th grade football game in Dike in the concessions. 

 

Parents, we are in need of volunteers for tomorrow's 7/8 Volleyball game in NH and Saturday's 8th VB Tournament in Dike. Please sign up at the following links:

** Please note the change in time for this game. This is due to HS FB practice Thursday eve. The shuttle will leave at 4:30 for Cheerleaders and Football players headed to Dike for this game. There will be ANOTHER shuttle to Dike at 5:30 after the VB game in NH.
