The Iowa College Access Network (ICAN), a nonprofit organization that we partner with for college planning and financial aid programs here at Dike-New Hartford has opened an office to better serve students in northeast Iowa. The Waterloo office is a great resource for you and your student as you begin to think about the next steps in your child’s future.

An ICAN Student Success Advisor is now available to work with you one-on-one to help map out your path to success. Appointments with a Success Advisor can cover:

  • High School Success (academic planning for optimum success)
  • Career Exploration and Planning
  • College Planning and Applications
  • Scholarship Process
  • Financial Aid Process
  • Completion of financial aid paperwork including the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Assistance with Financial Aid Verification
  • Award Letter Comparison and College Selection
  • Understanding Student Loan Options
  • Alternative Funding Options for College
  • General questions

The new ICAN Student Success Center is located in the University of Northern Iowa Center for Urban Education (UNICUE) at 800 Sycamore Street in Waterloo. The addition of ICAN to our community is exciting for our students as it provides an additional point of contact at no charge. I encourage you to call (877) 272-4692 and setup an appointment to discuss all the details of your student’s life after high school. Dike-New Hartford brings ICAN into the school every year to talk with students and parents as a group. This is your chance to visit one-on-one and get even more expert advice.
